Here are two different types of the new Paulson home poker chips. Both chips are 39.2mm in diameter.
The James Bond chip on the left has a border of 5.4mm and an area of 33.8mm that is recessed
by about 0.3mm. The label is inlaid into the chip but is at the same level (height) as the rest of the recessed center. You cannot
feel a seam where the label meets the clay.
The Top Hat & Cane chip on the right has a 8.5mm border that extends all the way to the
22.3mm label which is recessed about 0.3mm into the chip. You can feel the seam where the label meets the clay. This is
because the label is recessed about 0.3mm into the clay of the chip.
Both chips have a cross-hatch pattern embedded into the clay of the chip. On the James Bond chip, the cross-hatch
pattern does not extend into the recessed center (or the label). On the other chip, the cross-hatch pattern extends for the full
8.5mm border, all the way up to the label. This gives the chip on the right a very slight advantage in feel - there is more
of a 'clay' feel and less of a slippery label feel. Both labels feel exactly the same.
Both chips are available in the same chip and edge spot colors and sound the same sound.
The James Bond is slightly lighter, by hundredths of a gram, due to the larger recessed center area of the chip.
Take note of the slightly off-centered printing on both labels. This appears to be a bit of a problem with the new
Paulson home chips. It doesn't bother me and you might not have even noticed if I didn't tell you about it - your poker guests might
not notice either.
