The
Gold Rush poker chips are a product of the new Claysmith Gaming Chips. This same chip is currently available with three different labels on
the same 'Greek Key' mold - Gold Rush, Bluff Canyon Casino, and Desert Heat (all reviewed on this page). Each chip mimics the poker chips used in
popular Las Vegas casinos. The Gold Rush poker chips mimic the Golden Nugget Casino poker chips.
The Claysmith line of poker chips boast all the standard denominations from 25¢ to $10,000 in standard casino poker chip colors - white $1, red $5,
dark blue $10, green $25, light blue $50, black $100, purple $500, yellow $1,000, pink $5,000, orange $10,000. It is somewhat rare to see a set of
poker chips with all the standard colors and denominations. These chips would also be good for cash games as well as tournaments because there is a
brown 25¢ chip and a grey 50¢ chip available.
Denominations are printed in letters and digits in the white perimeter of the label but are somewhat difficult to read on this particular label. You
can't really read the denomination unless you hold it close. This is not the case in the other chips reviewed below, the denominations on those chips
are much larger and easier to read. There is a dollar or cents symbol on each denomination. The chip labels are slightly recessed into the body of the chip.
There are four three-colored edge spots on each chip. Each chip features a base color and three different colored edge spots. The edge spots line up from
the top to the bottom of the chip and contrast nicely with the base color of the chip. There is no text on the rolling edge of the chip. The Gold Rush poker
chips weigh 13.5 grams and contain a metal insert. The Milano poker chip reviewed below is 9.5 grams and does not contain a metal insert.
The chips are not slippery and stack well. They feel good for a composite poker chip and do not have a plastic feel to them. They have a nice sound - not
quite as clinky as a NexGen poker chip, but not quite as clacky or dead sounding as a real clay poker chip.
Sample weights were 13.51, 13.54, 13.14, 13.54, 13.47, 13.73, 13.81, 13.61, 13.66, 13.56, 13.65, and 13.08 grams. Sample diameters were 40.05, 40.10, 40.09,
40.04, 40.09, 40.14, 40.11, 40.07, 40.08, 40.00, 40.02, and 40.05 mm. Ten chips stacked was 33.33mm in height.
The price of the Gold Rush poker chips is 15¢ per chip. That is a good price for chips of this caliber. The price is comparable to the popular NexGen and
ProGen poker chips but you get a lot more with these Claysmith Gaming poker chips - there is a nice label on these chips, good edge spots, and a slightly less
plastic feel to them than the NexGen chips. Overall, they are a good value. They are available at Outplay Poker Chips.

The
Bluff Canyon Casino poker chips are on the same mold as the Gold Rush poker chips reviewed above and are loosely modeled on The Venetian Casino poker chips. Bluff
Canyon Casino is printed in capital letters across the top of the label. There are three small evergreen trees above the words 'Poker Room' in script, a laurel with a
small pine cone, the denomination in digits with a currency symbol, and the words BLUFF ARIZONA written across the bottom of the label.
The denomination is printed in digits large enough to be easy to read, much easier to read than the Gold Rush poker chips, but slightly smaller than the Desert Heat
or Milano poker chips reviewed below.
Sample weights were 13.41, 13.41, 13.48, 13.48, 13.45, 13.35, 13.61, 13.46, 13.54, 13.62, 13.51 and 13.30 grams. Sample diameters were 39.94, 40.04, 40.11, 40.07, 40.03,
40.09, 40.01, 39.99, 40.02, 40.08, 40.06 and 40.00 mm. Ten chips stacked was 33.63 mm in height.
The price of the Bluff Canyon Casino poker chips is the same 15¢ per chip as the other metal insert Claysmith Gaming poker chips reviewed on this page. They are available
at Outplay Poker Chips.

The
Desert Heat poker chip is on the same Claysmith Gaming 'Greek Key' mold as the two poker chips reviewed above. They are a loose reproduction of The Mirage
Casino poker chips. The label features four palm trees sitting under the sun with the denomination boldly printed to the left. the words 'Desert Heat' appear
below the trees and the word 'HOTEL' is printed at the bottom of the label.
The large and easy to read denominations are printed in digits on the left side of the label. The denominations are printed in bold print digits and are
the easiest to read of the three Claysmith chips reviewed above.
Sample weights were 13.36, 13.40, 13.60, 13.36, 13.67, 13.40, 13.60, 13.46, 13.17, 13.43, 13.40, and 13.45 grams. Sample diameters were 40.05, 40.01, 40.00,
40.15, 40.09, 39.99, 40.07, 40.06, 40.09, 40.06, 40.05, and 40.06 mm. Ten chips stacked was 33.36mm in height.

The
Milano poker chips are loosely based on The Bellagio Casino poker chips and are on a different mold than the other Claysmith Gaming poker chips reviewed
on this page. They are a compression molded chip without any metal insert. As a result, they weigh a more traditional 9.5 grams than the 13.5 grams of the metal
insert Claysmith Gaming poker chips. The label features the word MILANO printed across the top of the label, a very large denomination with a currency symbol,
two small laurels are printed on either side of the denomination, and the denomination is printed in letters across the bottom of the chip.
These chips are available on the 'Stitch and Line' mold. This is the same basic mold as the 'Greek Key' mold reviewed on the chips above except they feature zigzag
lines instead of multiple 'key' shapes. There is no metal insert inside this chip, as there is on the other Claysmith Gaming poker chips reviewed above. The chips
weigh 9.5 grams, which is the standard weight for true clay casino poker chip.
These poker chips come in slightly different shades than the other Claysmith Gaming chips reviewed above - they are a little more subdued, a little softer and
paler in color. The colors are more of a real clay poker chip than a plastic poker chip. They are available in the same standard chip colors and denominations as
the poker chips reviewed above.
The edge spots on these chips are different from the three chips reviewed above. They are trapezoid in shape and feature only two colors rather than the three different
colored stripes of the chips reviewed above. The edge spots line up perfectly from the top of the chip, across the rolling edge, and to the bottom of the chip.
The denominations are printed in very large digits with a currency symbol in the center of the label. They are very easy to read and are at least twice as large as the
denominations printed on the other Claysmith Gaming chips reviewed here. The denomination is also printed in letters across the bottom of the label but the printing is so
small that they are almost impossible to read. This is no big problem since the digit in the center of the chip is so large and easy to read.
They have slightly different sound than the metal insert chips reviewed above. They have a bit more of a dead sound to them, more of a clack than a clink. They sound
more like a traditional casino clay poker chip. They are a little less slippery than the metal insert chips.
Sample weights were 9.41, 9.71, 9.83, 9.60, 9.65, 9.43, 9.86, 9.77, 9.41, 9.69, 9.80 and 9.36 grams. Sample diameters were 39.85, 39.71, 39.89, 39.84, 39.84, 39.88,
39.82, 39.83, 39.91, 39.75, 39.70 and 39.79 mm. Ten chips stacked was 33.84mm in height.
The price of these chips is 31¢ per chip, slightly more than double the price of the metal insert poker chips reviewed above. That price is still cheap compared to
most other real clay chips available on the market today. They are available at
Outplay Poker Chips.
